Cambridge Labour is thrilled to announce the two by-election candidates for City Council wards West and East Chesterton. Electors in those wards will be voting for City, County and Mayoral candidates on Thursday 1st May.
Rosy Greenlees, Cambridge city resident for over 30 years will be the Labour candidate for West Chesterton and Sarah Haithcock, local primary teacher will be Labour’s East Chesterton candidate.
Rosy has had a lifelong career in the arts and spent her early career as a visual arts curator before moving into senior roles. As Executive Director of the Crafts Council she was awarded an OBE in 2017. She is passionate about the value of culture to society and how it can contribute economically and socially to help people live better and more fulfilling lives.
Sarah has a passion for working with young people and has worked in a Cambridge primary school since moving to the city. She has previously been involved in Labour party campaigns in London where she studied Politics at university. Growing up living in social housing she is a passionate advocate for high quality affordable housing for all and will work hard to advocate on behalf of residents living in social housing locally.
If elected, both Rosy and Sarah will be assets to their local Labour councillor teams in West and East Chesterton. They believe in working hard to support residents, tackling inequality in the city and fighting hard to secure services for our most disadvantaged residents.
