I’m Sarah Haithcock, a local special educational needs teacher, who grew up in social housing. I’m your candidate for East Chesterton for the 7 May local elections. As your councillor I’ll continue listening to residents and deliver practical solutions to make our area safer, greener and fairer.
My priorities for East Chesterton are:
- Build strong and resilient communities. Work with the community to tackle anti-social behaviour such as drug dealing, speeding, or littering to make East Chesterton safe for all.
- Cambridge homes for Cambridge residents. Continue building a new generation of council homes, support residents in need with housing and tackle rough sleeping.
- Easier and safer travel. I’ll fight for more frequent local buses, protected cycle lanes on Green End Road, safer pedestrian crossings. I’ll put pressure on the Lib Dems to finally fix potholes.
I have been campaigning for improvements in East Chesterton for months, listening to your views. As your councillor, I will report potholes to the County Council. I will raise anti-social behaviour with the police and press for regular patrols, so residents can feel safer and see results. I have lobbied for a ward walk-around to show officers the hotspots where you’ve raised concerns.
I’ll protect and enhance green spaces — help with park maintenance, call for new play equipment, tree-planting, and actively work with volunteers to keep them welcoming.
