I’m Sabina Harris-Hercules and I have lived in Cambridge since 1998. I have led a variety of community projects in that time and now feel that it’s time to contribute more
formally to my community. It would be a privilege to represent Newnham on the City Council.
My priorities for Newnham:
1. Build communities, not just homes. Tackle anti-social behaviour, reduce inequalities, champion local communities, build new community facilities and green spaces in Cambridge.
2. Cambridge homes for Cambridge residents. Continue building a new generation of council homes, support residents in need with housing and tackle rough sleeping.
3. Preserve Newnham’s unique environment. Work to ensure that new housing or transport initiatives do not adversely affect our green spaces and habitats.
I bring extensive experience of working with diverse local communities, listening carefully to residents, and delivering practical solutions. My legal background equips me well to represent your views effectively, challenge unfairness, and ensure the council works in the best interests of local people.
As your Labour councillor, Cameron Holloway has delivered important protections for Newnham, such as exclusion of the West Fields from areas identified for development in the current Local Plan. I aim to build on his work, to strengthen Newnham’s sense of community, safeguard our shared spaces, and preserve what is special about our area.
